Dear friends,

In the months prior to the global outbreak of COVID-19, we had planned to open a new season at the museum with a novel programme and an unprecedented architecture commission, both to be unveiled in the spaces of maat on March 27, 2020.  However, due to the escalation of the pandemic, and in line with national preventive measures, the EDP Foundation campus and thus both our spaces — maat and Central — are now closed until further notice.

We are nonetheless excited about all that’s been in the making and have decided to start sharing it with you here, in our brand new website, and through an online series of activities remastered in collaboration with all the contributors we invited to co-design our Spring and Summer program.

Our refreshed visual identity, which you can see applied here and across all our social media channels and soon on our campus, spaces and printed matter, is developed by Barbara says…, the Lisbon based studio of António Silveira Gomes and Cláudia Castelo. You can read more about their concept and project on our social media.

In the “On site” section of this website you will be able to peek into the exhibitions and installations we have been preparing and are looking forward to opening up for you as soon as the circumstances allow it. In the meantime, follow us on social media, where we will unveil weekly the behind-the-scenes, the makers and protagonists.

The “In time” section is home to all the public and educational programming we have to offer, and particularly the special 5-month long experimental programme of maat Mode 2020 — a project that for the foreseeable future will be redesigned for online fruition, thus adapting to the restraints we are currently faced with.

While the website provides descriptions of each project, we ask you to keep an eye on our Instagram, Facebook and YouTube accounts to keep up to date with how the projects will unfold and eventual changes or rescheduling.

Doors open or closed, we strive to keep culture alive in everyday life.
Follow us for food for thought & soul!
