When MAAT closes, a new world opens for MAAT Friends
On the last Wednesday of each month, MAAT opens its doors exclusively to MAAT Friends for one hour after public closing time. MAAT Friends After Hours offers in-depth guided tours, exploring exhibitions in detail in an intimate setting. It is designed to be a moment of discovery, exchange of ideas, and connection with the artworks, the space, and the people who share this unique experience.
The next MAAT Friends After Hours session will take place on 25/02 at 19:00, at MAAT Central, featuring a new guided tour of the museum’s two most recent exhibitions: Turn around (Part 1). A Look at the EDP Foundation Art Collection and Central Tejo Carpentry Workshop, 1936–2013.
The visit is limited to the first 25 participants who confirm their attendance. MAAT Friend +1 cardholders may bring one guest free of charge.

About the exhibitions
Turn around. A Look at the EDP Foundation Art Collection (Part 1)
The first part of Turn around presents a selection of works from the EDP Foundation Art Collection, inviting visitors to revisit different narratives within contemporary art. The exhibition highlights the diversity of languages, techniques and generations represented in the collection — spanning painting, sculpture, drawing, photography and installation — and proposes new relationships between works and artists, including names such as Joana Vasconcelos, Gabriel Abrantes, Luisa Cunha, Ana Jotta, José Pedro Croft, João Pedro Vale + Nuno Alexandre Ferreira, João Paulo Feliciano, among others. It is a journey that also reflects on the very practice of collecting within the EDP Foundation.
Central Tejo Carpentry Workshop, 1936-2013
This exhibition reveals the history of the carpentry workshop of the Central Tejo, a space that played a fundamental role in the operation of the former thermoelectric power station. Through tools, objects, documentation and photographic records, the exhibition presents the daily work of the carpenters, as well as the evolution of techniques, materials and processes over nearly eight decades. It offers a vivid testimony to industrial memory and to the crafts that supported energy production in Portugal.
We look forward to seeing you!
