Artlab is an artist residency at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (maat) whose aim is to bring young people (aged from 16 to 21) into closer contact with the Museum, its working contexts and the various stages in the creative and artistic processes. In a context of cooperation and encouragement of individual expression through creativity, it is hoped to develop participant’s constructive and expressive capabilities, and to recognise the body and voice as creative tools.
Artlab implies intensive and immersive experimentation. Different art techniques are examined in a close dialogue with maat’s exhibitions, artists and team. This process of exploration and experimentation is based on the personal experience of each participant and on their relationship with the environment, society, the museum and contemporary art, in which working processes are as important as the final results, if not more so.
